A free exhibit on baseball history in Arizona opens Saturday, October 4, at Scottsdale Stadium, 7408 E. Osborn Rd, Scottsdale 85251. There is a soft opening Friday, October 3 at 4 pm, and Saturday’s grand opening runs from 12-5 pm.
The exhibit — “Forged in Fire: Arizona Baseball from the Frontier to the Fall League” — is produced by the non-profit Arizona Baseball Legacy and Experience, and it is sponsored by the City of Scottsdale.
Rare baseball artifacts from the 1800s pepper the exhibit, which also tells the story of mining and outlaw leagues, the early days of spring training, Scottsdale’s Cactus League teams through the years, the lasting legacy of high school baseball in Scottsdale, and the Arizona Fall League.
